The star has handed over the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound award winnings to the MVT, which operates to preserve the Britain's grassroots music venues.

The star was awarded the prize on mid-October as his latest record his work was declared the outstanding release of the previous year.

Fender has opted to hand the money over to the trust, in recognition of the essential function small stages fulfilled in his early career.

"I would not have achieved my current career if it hadn't been for all the shows I did around the region, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," stated Sam Fender. "These locations are legendary, but they are struggling."

Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – approximately 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

Recently, major artists such as Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the trust in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by including a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which benefits independent venues.

Fender also participated, generating more than £100,000 on his recent tour to help thirty-eight small stages across the UK.

The donation helped venues that were facing potential shutdown due to difficulties caused by flooding, fires and family tragedies, as well as regulatory hurdles, legal disputes and sound issues.

Other venues received financial assistance in improving infrastructure and gear that positively impacted performers and fans.

"The idea that funds from performances in large arenas supports the smaller venues, where it all starts for artists like me, is just sensible," the star has said.

And winners that year they donated their winnings to a MS organization after a close contact was identified with the disease.

"The victory was quite enough," said singer the singer. "The cash was the extra but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the cake. So our success affected another person's life."

In the past week, the MVT shared it had saved a couple of small stages in that region, by bringing them into local control.

The Joiners in the city and the other in Bristol were purchased under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is funded by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who buy "shares" in the buildings.
